06/03/2008 - Student Health Center remembers Claudia Linda Mauerhan
In rememberance of Claudia Linda Mauerhan, the Student Health Center staff have placed a plaque in the hallway of the Student Health Center honoring Claudia's faithful and compassionate service to countless UCI staff and students. Claudia served as insurance coordinator at the Student Health Center from 1981 to 2008. More »

Congratulations to Leigh Poirier Ball and to UCI C.A.R.E. Right to Know Peer Education Group for receiving individual and group awards for the City of Irvine's Outstanding Supporter of Prevention. 05/29/2008 - 22nd Annual Orange County Aids Walk
Congratulations to Alisa Foreman and the Health Education staff for a successful participation in the 22nd Annual Orange County Aids Walk. UCI Health Education Center is one of the beneficiaries of the the event. A special thank you goes to David Bishop for his continuing support and to the more than 170 UCI volunteers who helped at the event that attracted more than 8,000 participants. Great Job! More »

04/01/2008 - New LGBT Director
After a successful turn as the assistant director at the UCI Health Education Center, David Bishop has been named the new director of the UCI Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Center. David will bring over 15 years of experience in health education, counseling, programming and marketing to this new role. First up for David will be assessing the campus climate and reviewing national best practices in LGBT centers. These reviews will help set a five year strategic plan for the center. David received his BA from CSULB in Interpersonal and Organization Communication and is a California Certified HIV testing counselor. More »

03/26/2008 - Darlene Esparza, new Director of Center for Service in Action
Congratulations to Darlene Esparza, who has been appointed the Director of the Center for Service in Action after serving in the acting role. In this post Darlene oversees volunteer placements, UCI Alternative Break Programs, an interactive web database of community service activities, as well as Earth Day and the annual UCI volunteer fair. Darlene earned her Master's in Counseling and Student Affairs at the University of San Diego in 2004 where she also received a two-year School of Education Fellowship. She is an alum of UC Davis where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. More »

03/26/2008 - New Offices in Aldrich Hall
Enrollment Services has relocated. Assistant Vice Chancellor Brent Yunek and Administrative Specialist Suzanne DiPiazza can be found at 209 Aldrich Hall, ext. 4-5151. Yunek oversees the Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools, the Center for Educational Partnerships, Financial Aid and Scholarships, and the Office of the Registrar.

Also on the move this week is Counseling and Health Services. Assistant Vice Chancellor Thomas Parham, along with Administrative Assistant Dorothy Clegern and Clinical Social Worker Karolina Soriano, can be found at 643 Aldrich Hall, ext. 4-4642 or 4-6885. More »

02/19/2008 - Appointment of Assistant Director for Scholarship
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship is pleased to announce that Chau Luu '03 has accepted the Assistant Director for Scholarship position.

Chau became a member of the Financial Aid team in 2005 and has been serving as Acting Assistant Director since last fall. She works closely with schools and University Advancement to support the scholarship needs of our students.

02/14/2008 - UCI Student Housing Moves to the Student Center
Beginning Tuesday, February 19, 2008, all Student Housing Administrative Services staff and the Housing Cashier, currently at the intersection of East Peltason and Pereira, will be relocated to the Student Center 4th floor, G458 and G459. 01/31/2008 - UCI Campus Tours
Did you know that UCI Campus Tours gave 1,487 tours to 32,015 people in 2006-07? UCI Students give tours to prospective students and parents, as well as groups (high school, middle school, elementary school and special programs like AVID, etc) and VIPs. The busiest month for tours is April, followed by August and then July.

Just released, this book offers a practical guide for meeting the challenges of educating the growing population of Latino students.
