Students’ Candlelight Vigil for Mercaz Harav Yeshiva
March 11, 2008

On March 6, 2008, a Palestinian terrorist infiltrated the Mercaz Harav Yeshiva in Jerusalem and murdered eight students, seven of whom were teenagers.

UC Irvine students gathered at the campus flagpoles on March 11, 2008 for a candlelight vigil and remembrance, inspiring these words.

Tonight we remember

     that every life is sacred.

     Every soul a light

     against the darkness.

Tonight we mourn the innocent,

     and grieve because every

     Life lost to violence

     is a tragedy.

Tonight we pray for peace,

for the light of the sacred

     to illluminate the world…

And bring an end to

     our fears, our sufferings,

     and our losses.

Tonight we remember.
